The Business Management program offers broad training in key business areas that employers want such as sales, advertising, marketing, insurance, investments, and supervisory management. You’ll develop skills in effective decision making, problem solving, organizing and planning.

A wide variety of jobs are available to those with Business Management degree. You will find employment opportunities in nearly every sector of the economy.

The integration of technology allows students to take some courses face-to-face and some as hybrids (a combination of online and face-to-face). This program is not currently offered as a fully online program.

Requirements

Drug/Alcohol Testing Requirements: Students are expected to conform to Rules for Programs with Required Drug and Alcohol Testing while enrolled in this program. See the Student Handbook for details. Any student who enrolls in Commercial Driver training must obtain a South Dakota driver’s license in order to complete the CDL training course. A Class A CDL is a graduation requirement for this program. See the Course Description for TRAN 100 for a full explanation. Please Note: Students planning to obtain an AAS degree in Utilities Technology MUST complete the CDL requirement during their first year of enrollment.

Physical Requirements: Mitchell Tech recommends that applicants in the Propane & Natural Gas Technologies program obtain a physical examination for their safety and protection.

Computer Requirements: This program allows you to bring your own laptop as long as it meets these minimum specifications:

Processor – Intel Core i Series (i3, i5, i7) or AMD Ryzen
Operating System – Windows 10
Webcam Recommended
Memory – 4 GB or more
Internal Storage – 64 GB or more
Microsoft Office is available at no charge as long as enrolled at Mitchell Tech

The Mitchell Technical College business programs, offered for the AAS degree, is a candidate for accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs. 

ACBSP Standard 7 requires that the business unit have a systematic process to identify and track key student performance measures for the purpose of of continuous improvement.

Rod Bowar Memorial Scholarship

Rod owned Kennebec Telephone Company, providers of telephone, cable TV and internet service to Kennebec, Presho and rural Lyman County. He joined the company in 1977 and purchased it in 1998. Rod was passionate about providing the best opportunities possible for his family and community. He served on many different boards and committees, including serving on the Mitchell Technical College Foundation Board. Two of Rod's children were Mitchell Tech grads, and his businesses employ multiple Mitchell Tech graduates.

South Dakota Wheat Commission

The South Dakota Wheat Commission began offering scholarships for Culinary Academy of South Dakota, Animal Science, Ag Business, Agronomy, Precision Technology, and SD Center for Farm and Ranch Management program students in 2014. The Commission has been an active supporter of several Mitchell Technical College programs for several years and has provided financial support for equipment and program development.
