Build Dakota Scholarship

Application period is closed. Please check back January 1, 2019.

Your two-year program can be completely covered by this scholarship including tuition, fees, books and tools.

Build Dakota Scholarships will be awarded to students entering high-need workforce programs at South Dakota’s technical institutes to fill the state’s technical careers with skilled professionals. These full-ride scholarships will support tuition, fees, books and other required program expenses in an eligible program.

The Build Dakota Scholarship is offered to train workers to fill skilled positions in South Dakota industries.  You can be awarded a full ride in an eligible program.  So, what’s the catch?  Keep your grades up (minimum 2.5 GPA) while enrolled in the program.  Agree to spend three years working in South Dakota for an industry in need of your skills after you graduate (or you’ll pay the scholarship back).

The unexpected rapid recovery of manufacturing in South Dakota and the United States at large is great news for the long term health of our economy and our place in the world.  To lose the momentum bringing back manufacturing to this country because of a shortage of skilled workers—especially when there are so many without jobs and without hard skills—would be a squandering of opportunity that may never come your way again.
