Mike Blasius Memorial Scholarship

Mike Blasius Family

Raymond “Mike” Blasius owned and operated Blasius Construction in Kimball, SD for nearly 50 years before his death in March 2022. Mike held his crew to the highest expectation of work ethic and attendance and was known for his quick and witty sense of humor. This scholarship will be awarded to a current Mitchell Tech student in a Construction and Manufacturing Technologies program who exhibits excellent attendance and work ethic. Preference is given to students from Mike’s hometown of Kimball, SD and the surrounding area.

Mark And Kathy Hofer Endowed Wind Turbine Technology Scholarship

Mark and Kathy Hofer began their scholarship support of the Wind Turbine Technology program in 2010. Mark has served on the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association board and has realized the importance of education to young people. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.

Mark And Kathy Hofer Endowed Power Line Technology Scholarship

Mark and Kathy Hofer are avid supporters of Mitchell Tech’s Power Line and Construction program. Mark has served on various electric cooperative boards for several years both on a local and national level. The Hofer’s have sponsored this scholarship since 2007 and created an endowed fund in 2014 to support the Power Line Scholarship and Wind Turbine Technology Scholarship. The Power Line award recipient will be selected by the SD Line Superintendents from applications provided by the Mitchell Technical College Foundation from those received during their Fall application period. The scholarship will be awarded at the beginning of the second semester each year and applied to the recipient’s account the same semester.

Mark Hohn Hoof Hauler Scholarship

Lisa & Jeff Larson

Mark was a 1984 graduate of the Mitchell Tech Agriculture program. Has passed away from a tragic farm accident in December of 2021. He dedicated his entire life to farming and the agriculture industry. Mark was known for his caring, outgoing, and giving personality and assisting a young farmer to get an agriculture education is a perfect tribute to Mark and his love for farming and his legacy.

Lewis Bainbridge Family Scholarship

Lewis and Charlene Bainbridge

The Lewis Bainbridge Family is a dedicated supporter of Mitchell Tech’s Ag programs and the Mitchell Technical College Foundation. They have provided scholarships for students since 2007. Lewis was a member of the Mitchell Technical College Foundation Board for many years. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.

Kenneth B. Carlson Agricultural Scholarship

Connie Tiensvold and Carrie Grimes

Kenneth was a man who loved farming and was an incredible mechanic. He farmed near Letcher for many years. In loving memory, his family has established the Kenneth B. Carlson Agricultural Scholarship.
Applicant must be enrolled full time at MTC in any agricultural based program. Applicant must complete the MTC Online application during the open application period to be eligible to receive this scholarship First preference will go to a descendant of a small family farm of less than 1000 acres

Family of John and Diane Weber

This scholarship has been established by the family and friends of John Weber, former Culinary Academy of South Dakota instructor, and his wife Diane, who was an Mitchell Tech alum. The scholarships will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.

John And Diane Weber “Career Change” Endowed Scholarship

John and Diane Weber Family and Friends

This scholarship was established in 2015 by the daughters of Diane Weber. Diane’s early adult years were spent in the Peace Corp, working at Bell Telephone and teaching German and English after college. The scholarship honors Diane’s desire in 1974 to change her career and her enrollment at Mitchell Tech to become a Clinical Lab Technician. The scholarships will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.

Interstates Endowed Scholarships

Interstates, Sioux Center, Iowa, has been a great industry partner of Mitchell Tech. Interstates began offering scholarships to ECM students in 2004 and their Endowment achieved full funding in 2012. The scholarships will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.

Home Builders Of The Sioux Empire Scholarships

Sioux Empire Home Builders Association

Home Builders of the Sioux Empire has been offering scholarships to Architectural Design and Building Construction students since 2003. The scholarships awarded to Current student recipients will have funds applied to their accounts the Fall semester of their second year. The scholarships will be selected by a committee comprised of ADBC instructors and Mitchell Tech staff.

Scholarships will be awarded in September to students currently enrolled as full-time second year Architectural and Building Construction students. Students must complete the online application in the Fall of their first year as instructed to be eligible for these scholarships. The funds will be applied to their accounts at the beginning of the second semester of their second year Scholarship recipients must be members of the NAHB in order to receive the scholarships

Gary Plagmann Memorial Scholarship

The Gary Plagmann Memorial Scholarship was established by his family in 2011. Gary was involved in the Telecommunications Industry in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota for nearly 40 years and participated in many rural telephone company upgrades during his career.
