SD ACT Council Recognizes MTI

South Dakota’s ACT Council selected its inaugural exemplars in the ACT College and Career Readiness Campaign, recognizing Mitchell Technical Institute for its commitment to college and career readiness.

The event is part of ACT’s third annual College and Career Readiness Campaign, its largest yet with 34 partner states, including South Dakota. The Campaign culminates in ACT’s National Gala for College and Career Readiness in Washington, D.C. in June.

Mitchell Technical Institute received the Career Preparedness Award for its demonstrated commitment to community partnerships and its success in career preparation and placement for its graduates.

Scott Fossum, MTI’s Director of Secondary Pathways, submitted the school’s application.

In addition to MTI’s selection as a college exemplar, Christopher Blumer, a senior from Hill City High School, received the Student Readiness Award and a scholarship.

“We are excited to welcome so many new states to our campaign this year,” said Scott Montgomery, ACT vice president for policy, advocacy and government relations.  “Highlighting each state’s consistent and successful effort will provide motivation and inspiration to other students, along with education and workplace leaders, to follow in their footsteps in making college and career success a reality for more individuals in their state.”

Following recognition in each of the 34 partner states, national award recipients will be recognized at the ACT National Gala for College and Career Readiness in Washington, D.C., on June 9, 2015.
