Discover Mitchell Tech

Chartered in 1966, Mitchell Technical College opened in September 1968 as part of a statewide system of four technical colleges. More than 19,000 students have graduated since that time. The College operates under a dual governance system. Policy, hiring, local fees, and operations are decided by the Board of Education of the Mitchell School District 17-2. Tuition and state fees, program approval, and bonding issues are decided by the South Dakota Board of Technical Education. Mitchell Tech enjoys a close relationship with Mitchell and regional communities. There are established advisory boards comprised of community and regional representatives who provide program input and support.
