Mitchell Tech Announces Welding, Machining Scholarship

Mitchell Tech invites all high school welders to apply for its first-ever Welding and Machining Scholarship.

The $5,000 will be awarded to one student who enrolls in the Mitchell Tech Welding and Machining Technology program for Fall 2024. Students who plan to pursue a specialization in either Progressive Welding Technology or Machining and Manufacturing Technology are eligible for the scholarship.

“The region needs as many newly trained welders and machinists as possible, and this scholarship is intended to remove the barrier to that pathway for one student,” Mitchell Tech Welding and Manufacturing Instructor Travis Peterson said. “We can’t give away scholarships to every student wishing to pursue this path, but we can offer assistance to one student who shines as an outstanding candidate.”

Eligibility requirements for the scholarship include a minimum 2.5 grade point average and a recommendation by a high school welding teacher, counselor, or administrator.

The deadline for entry into the scholarship application pool is Mon., April 15. The awardee will be notified of their scholarship by April 22. Funds for the scholarship will be divided equally and applied to the incoming students’ tuition balances for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. Full-ride Build Dakota and Double Edge scholarship recipients are not eligible for the prize.
