Academic Data and Financial Aid Specialist - Mitchell, SD

12 month, hourly position. Preference given to candidates who apply by July 8th, however, position is open until filled. This position will support both the Financial Aid office and the Registrar office.
Role and Responsibilities:

(Financial Aid)

  • Responsible for assisting with performing verification of financial aid files
  • Contact and counsel delinquent borrowers with Federal Stafford and Perkins loans
  • Assist with Return of Title IV process, and follow up letters
  • Award PLUS loans and track all required documentation
  • Complete certifications for private student loans
  • Review students Satisfactory Academic Progress, and send letters accordingly
  • Monitor and report scholarship information for MTI scholarships, and determine eligibility for renewable scholarships
  • Responsible for creating, editing and maintaining Advising Module features. Ensures that all advising AIMS, trees and advising worksheets are accurate for all students.
  • Evaluate transcripts for eligible transfer credit. Data entry of transferred courses in EX; notify student of approved transfer credit.
  • Assist with general maintenance and clean up in the Student Registration and Advising Module. Conduct data verification and correct inaccurate data. Ensure all required electronic information in EX for each student: Degree, Major, Entrance Year, FERPA, Demographics, etc.
  • Assist with maintaining current data in the master course catalog file in Jenzabar.
  • Assist with the creation of the course schedule; coordinates the requests of the academic departments in assigning class times for fall, spring and summer semesters. Assigns classrooms for all academic courses, labs and programs.
  • Assist with processing incoming student course registrations.
  • Assist with degree audits in preparation for conferring degrees.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid and the Registrar.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • AAS degree required from an accredited, degree granting institution. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be able to work independently and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn and master advanced computer software
  • Must be customer service oriented, friendly, empathetic, honest, detail oriented and ethical.

Instructional Services and Student Success Specialist - Mitchell, SD

MTI is currently seeking an hourly, 10 month position; Instructional Services and Student Success Specialist.

This position supports the faculty by providing support to them through the Instructional Services Center. This position also works collaboratively with the Student Success/Student Services department to support learning services, career services and retention efforts for MTI students. The position also assists with the Student Representative Board when needed and organizes student tutors. Please note that the hours for this position during the academic semesters will include two  evenings per week.

Candidates must possess strong customer service, organizational and communication skills and have the ability to work independently. Associates degree preferred but not required.
