Electrical Services Technician

Northwestern College is seeking applicants for an electrical services technician to begin immediately. This is a full-time, 12-month position managing and maintaining the electrical aspects of physical plant systems for the college-owned portfolio of buildings. This role reports to the director of facilities management and is responsible for maintaining the physical plant, in accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state and local regulations.

Job responsibilities include installation and repair of electrical systems such as kitchen equipment, lighting, commercial HVAC equipment, smoke and fire alarms, and building automation. Campus voltages include 120/208V, and 277/480V single and three phase, solidly grounded WYE. In addition, scheduling and monitoring building automation systems and working with HVAC/electrical and plumbing personnel are required. This person is also responsible for prioritizing and performing routine maintenance tasks as needed and documenting labor and material used in our work-order system. The person is also on a rotation for after-hour service calls and emergencies.

Requirements

Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold a valid electrician’s master or journeyman’s license, or be in an apprenticeship program. The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree or 1-3 years of post-high school training in the electrical trade, with preference given to those with 5-7 years of progressive experience in electrical construction, maintenance, building trades, system integration, troubleshooting, or installing and programming PLC/BAS controls systems, etc. The candidate must be a person with strong organizational and computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products; solid interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; and the ability to multitask. The candidate must be a self-starter with attention to detail and a team player willing to contribute in a collegiate environment.
