Building Maintenance Specialist (HVAC)

This position performs skilled building maintenance tasks in the HSC Maintenance Department. This employee will act as a specialist with an emphasis in the area of heating ventilation and refrigeration operation troubleshooting, repair and maintenance, perform necessary repairs, supervise and participate in planning altering and installing new systems in a complex of buildings. This person frequently works alone and must be a self-starter. At times this employee can be required to work in other trade areas of the physical plant if the need arises. 

Working hours for this position are primarily Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. but may vary according to needs of the facility. This position will require off hours call in rotation.   Salary: $18.69 - $19.63 per hour; depending on experience

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

The ideal candidate will be able to locate/troubleshoot problems, determine appropriate procedures, and make repairs and adjustments to building management system/controls, boiler operations and HVAC/ refrigeration systems. 

Knowledge of: 

  • local, state, and federal building codes;
  • appropriate installation and repair techniques;
  • electrical and mechanical engineering and design;
  • the functions of various electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems;
  • operation of campus building automation system;
  • tools and equipment associated with the tasks of the position.

Ability to: 

  • read and follow blueprints;
  • interpret technical specifications and regulations;
  • operate the necessary tools of the trade;
  • communicate information clearly and concisely;
  • deal tactfully and work effectively with others;
  • follow instructions;
  • direct the activities of others;
  • work from ladders, scaffolding, or in confined areas.

Compensation

Salary: $18.69 - $19.63 per hour; depending on experience
