MTI Scholarships
The Mitchell Technical Institute Foundation offers endowed scholarships customarily ranging from $100 to $1,000 for MTI students on an annual basis. In addition, the Foundation board and staff work with a number of individuals, financial institutions, businesses, community groups and associations that make direct grants to MTI students. These additional grants are awarded in conjunction with various technical programs at MTI or locally based organizations and often require specific criteria for eligibility.

General MTI Foundation Scholarship Information:
  • Scholarship application periods are open in October and March of each school year. 
  • MTI students will be contacted via their MTI email with further information as the application period nears. 
  • Individuals must  be a currently enrolled student to apply for any scholarships through the MTI Foundation.

Avera Queen of Peace Endowed Scholarship

Avera Queen of Peace is a leading supporter and partner of Mitchell Technical Institute.  An endowment was established in 2002 and now provides scholarships each year to MTI's Health Science programs.

Criteria
  • Enrollment at MTI as a full-time student in a Health Sciences program
  • Completion of at least one semester of a multi-semester program
  • Oral / Written recommendation from an instructor
Bartels Endowed Scholarship

Keith & Glynn Bartels have been active and instrumental members of the Mitchell Technical Institute Foundation and have a passion for education and Mitchell Technical Institute.  They have chosen to establish a scholarship endowment with the MTI Foundation which provides two $500 scholarships each year.

Criteria
  • Full-time student at Mitchell Technical Institute
  • Cummulative GPA
  • Demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA (universal financial aid application form)

Available to second year Agriculture Technology or Agriculture Chemical Technology students.  Students can apply through the MTI Agriculture Technology department.

Criteria
  • Full time students registered at MTI
  • Student who has worked (or have mother/father who has worked) at County Fair Foods, Mitchell for a minimum of 3 months prior to award
  • High School GPA 2.5 or better

David Grode Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsor: David Grode Memorial Scholarship

David Grode was the Superintendent of Schools at Plakinton, SD.  He was killed in the propane explosion that destroyed the school on November 17, 2000.  In memoriam to him, his family has established this scholarship to aid in training Propane & Natural Gas Technology students.  David was also an avid woodworker, therefore his family requests that ADBC students be given the opportunity to apply for this scholarship as well.

Criteria
  • Must be admitted to Mitchell Technical Institute as a first semester student in Propane & Natural Gas Technologies or Architectural Drafting and Building Construction.

Awards will be based upon a combination of GPA, a recommendation and the responses to the essay questions.

Enertech Manufacturing Scholarship

Enertech Manufacturing provides comprehensive assistance in sizing, design, application, and installation support to their HVAC dealer network. 

Criteria
  • 2.5 or higher GPA
  • Demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA (universal financial aid application form)
  • Excellent classroom attendance record
  • Answers to application essay questions

GF Thomsen Family
$500 each
The first endowed fund for scholarships at Mitchell Technical Institute, the GF Thomsen Family Scholarship has been awarded annually since 1985.  The scholarship is limited to dependents of employees of GF Thomsen companies of Mitchell.  If no applicants meet this criteria a Mitchell area high school graduate may receive the scholarship.

Criteria
  • Completed at least one semester of classes at MTI
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student
  • Leadership skills as demonstrated in application form
