HISTORY OF MITCHELL TECHNICAL INSTITUTE
Chartered in 1966, Mitchell Technical Institute opened in September 1968 as part of a statewide system of four technical institutes. Nearly 15,000 students have graduated since that time. The Institute is governed by the Board of Education of the Mitchell School District 17-2 and operates under rules and regulations set forth by the South Dakota Board of Education. MTI enjoys a close relationship with Mitchell and regional communities. There are established advisory committees of community and regional representatives who provide program input and support.
LOCATION
MTI is located in Mitchell, SD, on Interstate 90 approximately 65 miles west of Sioux Falls. The school is housed in two facilities.
